Hey,
So a couple of thoughts...
1) The bonobo patch mentioned in gnome bug 520615 and the settings-daemon
mentioned in this report are in gnome 2.23. Are you shipping that in 11.0? Or
is this from jhbuild on top of 11.0?
2) In one of your ps listings, i see this:
3368 ? S 0:00 dbus-launch --autolaunch
1fc20e05305a3e5d1a1fd32a484e714c --binary-syntax --close-stderr
3369 ? Ss 0:00 /bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 6
--print-address 8 --session
This gets called by libdbus if it can't find a session bus in the running
session. Could it be these autolaunched buses are what are leaking? Note,
dbus-launch needs the --exit-with-session option to clean up after itself
automatically when X goes down. It seems like there may be a bug in libdbus
here if it's calling dbus-launch without --exit-with-session.
What processes have pids smaller than but close to 3368? That might give us a
hint as to why programs can't find a session bus.
3) gnome-setting-daemon doesn't use bonobo-activation-server or libbonobo, so I
don't think this problem is (at least directly) caused by gnome bug 520615
Do you start dbus-daemon before or after gnome-session? It's supposed to be
started before, but I found out recently that Ubuntu is starting it after,
which is causing issues with the patch from gnome bug 520615 and orca.
