I still think that that's a rather annoying bug. At least, if I have open in
evince more the one PDF file from a set, it fools me.
I did a little bit of debugging and think that xep.xsl is somehow responsible
;) Unfortunately, I do not understand how this mode thingie works to set
$title.
If all this is too complicate, we could set the title using a tool such as gs:
echo "% Document information (for PDF conversion)
[%/Creator (foo)
/Title (SUSE Manager Reference Guide)
/Author (SUSE Linux GmbH)
/DOCINFO pdfmark" >title.ps
gs -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dNOOUTERSAVE -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=new.pdf \
title.ps book.susemanager.ref-xep-online.pdf
Unfortunately, evince then complains about
Error: Illegal entry in bfrange block in ToUnicode CMap
but we can probably ask Werner for help if we want to go the gs route.

toms, if you think it is an upstream style-sheet issue, I could also report it
on the docbook-xsl ML.
