If you want this, you need to have a freetype2 with subpixel hinting enabled (disabled by default because of possible patent problems). Build it yourself or take it from the openSUSE build service. Then enable it in the KDE/Gnome setup or with <match target="font" > <edit mode="assign" name="rgba"> <const>rgb</const> </edit> </match> in your ~/.fonts.conf. Even if you do this, it will look much worse as on Windows. You will see very obvious colour fringes. The reason is that no gamma correction is currently done on Linux for subpixel hinting. Windows does gamma correction. Without gamma correction, subpixel hinting is useless in my opinion, it is far too ugly then. As the patent problems are still there, maybe nobody is interested in implementing gamma correction now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
