I an disappointed with the decision to not fix this issue!
I am running a server machine (Tyan Thunder k8we / S2895) motherboard.
unplugging drives is *not* a reasonable solution. I am using the latest BIOS
from Tyan.
The only potential workaround is to manually change the disk order. This does
*not* help when doing a kernel update as every such update has broken grub for
me!
The fact still remains that openSUSE is internally registering/storing disk
order in an INCONSISTENT way! I do not think it matters what ordering is used.
It is IMHO a fatal bug for a system to be inconsistent and that alone should be
reason enough to fix this problem. Clearly without the bios disk data, two
different components of the system are assisgning a disk ordering. The problem
is two different disk orderings are being assigned. The system should adapt
whatever disk ordering is first assigned for the rest of it's components. Is
that not reasonable?
