https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=242059 Summary: GRUB does not work when using USB storage to boot/install from Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 0plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mboman@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Using mkbootdisk to create a bootable USB memory stick. Using a USB external harddrive which contains all files. The install goes through OK until the first boot, where GRUB only shows "GRUB" in the upper left corner. I tried to change the settings in the GRUB configuration during install but to no avail. Changed device.map from (hd2) /dev/sda (hd0) /dev/sdb (hd1) /dev/sdc To (hd0) /dev/sda (hd1) /dev/sdb (hd2) /dev/sdc Then changed the kernel and init lines accordingly. Also changed where GRUB is installed from sdb to sda2 Using a USB memory stick but installing from an FTP source, the above works, but not when the installation source is an external USB drive. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
