--- Comment #41 from Werner Flamme 2010-09-10 06:43:29 UTC ---
Just my 2 ct: on my box, uname -a returns "Linux rz36 2.6.34.4-0.1-desktop #1
SMP PREEMPT 2010-08-20 19:21:29 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux" and the
freezes have not gone...
I can't confirm that there is a connection to a desktop search monster. I
configured tracker, nepomuk, and strigi to not run at all (why does this crap
run by default?) and to use no directories ;-) but my box still freezes.
I can't confirm that this only happens when a big portion of the screen is
updated - except you call a card movement in kpat a big portion of the screen
;-). But it even freezes while I enter this text...
Same thing at home (I'll never ever play kpat in the office!). Both boxes
running nvidia graphics with the driver from the nvidia repo. With nouveau, the
box stalled and there was no way to get it living again exept pressing the
reset button. Using the nvidia driver reduced the problem to several seconds
off work - sometime thrice a minute.
Regards, Werner
