It's one of the few requirements, that a pending update stack update blocks all further updates. I'm a bit reluctant to change the backend to simply send the whole list of patches because I don't know which apps (beside apper) use this call. They all would need to be adapted in order to handle the update stack patches correctly. So I'd prefer a solution where the frontend would query for 'blocked' patches if it actually wants to display more detailed info. Passing it to the apper guys.
