I still cannot get VMWARE SERVER to work on my openSuSE 11.3 ...
I've got all the latest updates, the compiler, kernel files, etc. all
installed, but still get the same error.
I agree with Jiri, that the current issue requires a recompile, but with the
headers missing I'm just "not there" technically to accomplish this yet.
Countdown: It's been 2 months since I wiped my notebook from Windows XP
Professional and went to openSuSE Linux 11.3 in hopes to set up VMWARE SERVER
and run what I still need from XP apps. It's been a wonderful experience as
the latest 11.3 is a wonderful environment to work in, with functionality that
is far better than any previous release of Linux as a workstation. YouTube
files play, adobe documents open up, and many things work very similarly to the
way I am used to from Windoz. I still have problems saving a pic image from a
webpage in Firefox, and I still have trouble with VMWare Server. Those 2
things are my only obstacle to being completely happy with the switchover!
Yesterday, I took another drive and did a re-install of Windows XP on it so I
can boot to XP and use it until I get VMWare working. Please, please help me
fix this so I don't have to go back to the Mickeysoft world of chaos. I like
my Linux stability, my X windowing environment, and the wonderful utilities
installed.
My hat's off to you "SuSE" for an excellent revision of Linux!!
Now "please", please help me with VMWare Server ...
