After installing 2.6.25.4-2-vanilla #1 SMP 2008-05-16 20:46:39 +0200 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux almost the expected happened: "nohz=off" is necessary.
"Almost" because with vanilla the system goes into black screen - no motion
much later in the game, and this when X is started. I could use the system on
runlevel 3 without "nohz=off" which wasn't possible with the latest openSUSE
kernel where I would never reach a login prompt at all. So the SUSE kernel has
worsened the situation compared to vanilla.
"We do not seem to have any hardware here that has this problem" - I thought
that's why you use a wide testing community. A list of all notebooks,
mainboards and systems containing the SB600 would have quite a few pages. About
20% of new motherboards sold here in the street shops carry a version of SB600
now. So how about implementing a F key for "nohz"?
