Upgrade from functioning 10.2 to Beta 3 to MD raid
These are logs and other support documents taking a functioning MD raid system
from 10.2 to 10.3 B3 with a stop at mid installation to fix an error at the
point where the system tries to boot the updated system and continue with
network and cleanup configuration. This interrupt was caused by 2 things,
First, a driver for an installed disk controller is not properly
upgraded/compatable between 10.2 and 10.3 so the reboot drops to repair mode.
Second, the GRUB file produced includes kernels that do not exist anymore and
the ones that do are pointed to on (hd1,0) rather than (hd0,0) which I edited
manually so the boot could continue and the install complete. The
documentation is divided into 4 sections, each with its own directory. Much
progress toward fixing this bug is evident since it was first reported. It
almost worked. The first directory is Not a malfunction, it is a functioning
10.2 system, The last directory is a functioning 10.3 system after manual
editing. The other two do reflect errors. The IDE drive remains physically
removed from the system and when reinserted, the installation still fails
disastrously as before.
