https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=370876 Summary: Proprietary NVidia-drivers and kernel 2.6.25 - compile fails Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 2plus Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: one_way@online.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I know, usage of proprietary Nvidia drivers is always a touchy subject. However, as a non-religious user ;), I'd like to be able to use those (very good) drivers with openSUSE. Kernel 2.6.25 has introduced a change concerning not exporting the "init_mm" symbol. This breaks the Nvidia drivers and a kernel patch is necessary for 64bit kernels. Some links, as I myself don't know too much about stuff like that: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/635526 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1575714&postcount=54 Any chance of patching the openSUSE kernel in order to still export this symbol as long as there is no new Nvidia driver available? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
