Here are some additional comments. I have a new Lenovo T61 and it also uses the
iwl4965 driver discussed here. I have no wireless connectivity until I install
the ipw driver from the RC1 DVD, ipw-firmware-8-81.noarch.rpm and reboot. If
you use the ipw-firmware-8-82.noarch.rpm from the factory non-oss repo, you'll
lose connectivity as soon as you reboot.
I've reproduced this several times on reinstalling opensuse 11.0 rc1 for one
reason or another.
Standard install, iwl4965,no connectivity.
Add ipw driver, configure wireless card, reboot and you have connectivity.
