A good thing you asked me that today:
On the day I created the output, I saw the error window while I was working
early on. I made a number of attempts to get it right. However, I do not
recall if the error window came up during the running of the "strace" itself.
I checked my notes and I did not write anything specific down. All I can say
today is that I *think* it did.
I can also say that one thing I did notice was that there was a "yast2", I
think it was "sleeping" as long as the error window was on the desktop. When I
canceled that window, the "yast2" process disappeared immediately, indicating
that it was created by the "yast2" process itself, or by its action. I was not
sure before if it might be created by some process after "yast2" was already
gone.
But there is more:
Today there were more updates, and "Online Update" did not bring up the error
window.
Because of this, and to answer your question, I decided to run the "strace"
again. Only this time, I specifically watched for the error window. It did
not show up. I wondered if it was because of the fact that it was being run
through "strace" itself. So I ran "Online Update" a couple more times and
canceled it. I also tried "Software Management" and canceled that program.
The error window has not shown up in any of these attempts. It seems to be
fixed now. It may be the result of one of the updates actually fixing it, or
it could be the result of the action of the installation of a patch that has
changed something. If it is the latter, then maybe nothing is really fixed and
it is just hidden now. However, at this point, I would say that I probably
cannot add anything more for this bug. I am uploading the output of the last
"strace" so if you "diff" them, it might show something. But for now, I think
I will not have further information to provide.
If Joseph's computers still show a problem, then it might show up again in
mine. I will keep on receiving messages from this Bug until this is resolved,
but for now, this is probably my last comment.
