Attempted to install the ndiswrapper rpms from the 11.0Alpha2 DVD, but YaST2 refused to install ndiswrapper-kmp-default-1.51_2.6.24_6-12.x86_64.rpm because of an incompatibility with the installed/running kernel.
Factory is broken atm, you will probably not be able to update, once announced in opensuse-factory list, you have to run zypper dup, and then try to install ndiswrapper, it compiles just fine in our buildsystem,
The packaging seems to be an overkill - do the kernel modules REALLY need to be in a separate RPM?
yes, most if not all third party kernel modules (not in kernel.org) should be in a separate package. How many different variants of the x86_64 kernel module
will there be, and WHY?
many , because all kernels may/are different at the binary level.
Why not just simply put all the relevant x86_64 binaries and documentation, etc. into one RPM?
Nope.
Compilation of the module from the ndiswrapper-1.52 sources on Sourceforge also failed. Consequently, I cannot use wireless on my laptop.
Please reopen this report when you got an updated and working factory copy, that may take a while. ( see opensuse-factory) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
