http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=495142 Summary: yast does not delete alias on ethernet interface Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ken@turnkey.com.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032600 SUSE/3.0.8-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.8 I am using ifup method. All IP addresses on this machine are statically assigned. I used YaST to create an alias address for eth0, called eth0:smtp with a different IP address on the same subnet, then saved. After that I ran ifconfig and the alias was there. Next I deleted the alias address, and saved. The file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 did not change, and running ifconfig showed that the alias interface was still active. Editing the file by hand and then running ifconfig eth0:smtp down removed the alias interface, as expected. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an alias address on eth0, called eth0:smtp 2. Save and see that the alias address is active with ifconfig 3. Delete the alias address. 4. Save and see that the alias address is still active and /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 is unchanged. Actual Results: I still have an active IP address bound to eth0:smtp. Expected Results: Alias interface should go away when deleted in YaST. All packages are from standard repos, and up to date. Seems to me to be a failure of YaST to rewrite the sysconfig file. Is YaST expecting numeric aliases? As far as I know there is no such restriction in ifconfig, alias names can be alphanumeric. I retried with eth0:1, made no difference, bug still there. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
