The dnssd checks fail in the config phase and the support is disabled
because the dnssd checks must fail because CUPS requires particular
DNS-SD functionality which is provided by Apple's Bonjour but currently
not provided in the Linux environment (in particular not by Avahi).
You may have a look at those CUPS upstream issue reports:
http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3298
http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3066
There is currently nothing what we (i.e. a Linux distributor) can do
and therefore I can only close it as "wontfix" which actaully
means "cantfix" in this case.
As far as I see, the issue could only be solved upstream
at Avahi together with CUPS.
But I doubt if this might happen in the near future because
there have been issues in Avahi in the past like
http://www.cups.org/str.php?L2931
which could let the cupsd crash when CUPS used Avahi in the past
there was an intentional move away from Avahi by upstream CUPS, see
http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3065

We removed Avahi support a while back because Avahi does not support
all of the dns_sd functionality (no TXT record functions) and they've
been playing games (see STR #2655 and STR #2931) that cause too many
problems, anyways.
So, unless Avahi is providing a dns_sd library with a
TXTRecordGetValuePtr function we should never try using it.
