Egbert, unfortunately I don't have any other monitor with DVI output so at this
moment I have no chance to confirm your suspicion.
On the other hand this monitor works very well with Windows and detection of
the monitor type and modes it can run works very well with Windows software on
exactly the same box.
Therefore I'm not so sure if it's broken hardware but I'm not an expert of
course.
Also, not sure what might cause this but I didn't have any success with booting
in "3" running mode. The computer simply freezes when I give "3" as boot
option.
However, I've tried "4" and it worked as expected (there was console and no X
started). Should I report this problem as another issue?
Also, since I can promise to you that I'll be able to provide feedback much
more quickly starting next week we may spend more time on diagnosing this
problem before ugly work-around is introduced into driver's code.
If this is *absolutely* necessary I could start to think how to get an access
to another display with DVI. But really, this is not an easy task for me.
