https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=421369 Summary: zypper dist-upgrade from 11.0 removes working kernel Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnieuwenhuizen@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- The currently running (last-known to work) kernel+initrd should not be removed when updating the system/kernel. Yesterday I did a zypper refresh; zypper dist-upgrade from 11.0 to factory. That replaced (removed) the working kernel-default-2.6.25.5-1.1.x86_64.rpm's /boot/kernel-default-2.6.25-5-1.1-default /boot/initrd-2.6.25-5-1.1-default with kernel-default-2.6.27-rc3.3.x86_64, without backup or waiting for a succesful boot. You already guessed: leaving my system without a bootable kernel. Not good. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
