While for the SZ it's actually a bit odd the fact that the brightness keys are working while the volume/mute are not. I expect it is supported through ACPI video driver and BCL/BCM/BQC ACPI video brightness functions though the ACPI "video" module?
Maybe. I've seen ony one SZ DSDT with acpi video driver compliant methods, I can't see them in the attached DSDT.
My patches to exclude brightness switching between vendor specific and ACPI video driver have not been picked up by Len yet, AFAIK? IMO vendor specific modules like sony_acpi, thinkpad_acpi, asus_acpi, etc. should take their hands of brightness switching functions if the ACPI BIOS parts provide BCL/BCM/BQC functions...
makes sense.
I'm told that the old sony_acpi worked I thought sony_acpi is the new one and sonypi the old one?!? Ahh you told me that on longterm everything should get merged (or splitted IIRC), could you give me a short update about that, pls.
Well, both sonypi and sony_acpi are old :) sony_acpi never made it to the mainline kernel though. Sonypi drives the SPIC device and sony_acpi the SNC device, both defined through ACPI tables. Functionalites like hotkeys are sometimes related to the SPIC, sometime to the SNC and other functions overlap as well... depending on the laptop model. I picked up both drivers and merged them into sony-laptop which will provide a single interface to the additional vaio functions. I'm trying to keep this up-to-date http://www.linux.it/~malattia/wiki/index.php?title=Sony_drivers Cheers ;) -- Mattia -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
