All I can say is that a TW guest running on a TW host works. I cannot vouch for
an Ubuntu host running VB 5.2.42. There are two parts involved on the guest,
namely /sbin/mount.vboxsf, and the vboxsf kernel module. In TW, we use the
module built into the kernel. For Leap variations, the kernel versions are
inadequate and we build special modules for VB. The bug that prevented
supplying the UID and GID in a mount command or in /etc/fstab was in
mount.vboxsf. For the TW version, that is fixed. I do not know where the
problem is in the automount code, and I had little interest in debugging that
as I thought we had a workaround.
I am busy with other tasks and it will be while before I can spend much time on
this issue.
