Only "non-kernel compile needed" tests that comes to my mind is to make sure
processor module is not loaded:
vi /etc/sysconfig/kernel
and remove processor, fan and thermal from list of initrd_modules
invoke mkinitrd
vi /etc/sysconfig/powersave/common
set ACPI_MODULES="NONE"
Then reboot (maybe adding "1" as boot param is better...).
This makes sure no cpufreq (might confuse tsc based time keeping) and C-states
are accessed at all.
Oops, could it be that hpet parameter changed, from
Documents/kernel-parameters:
hpet= [IA-32,HPET] option to disable HPET and use PIT.
Format: disable
Sorry about that one, I am pretty sure nohpet already existed.
Next I'd cluster time source code with printks to find out which is really used
and what happens in their suspend/resume functions (if they have any).
However, this needs some time. This is not really critical (STR broken on a
specific machine). You might want to contact me the next days (is it possible
to get the machine to company) and we can have a look at it together...
Does the machine have a serial device?
