Richard Creighton
Richard, what was exactly the behavior from that time you attached last y2log? Am I right that you opened Product Creator, wanted to create ISO image, went into the package selector and there you've seen some endless loop?
Since the last run where I got the DePFH loop, I was waiting for some kind of update to change something on the installation software that might warrant another test, therefore, nothing changed. As to your 2nd question, I had asked it to make an ISO based completely on defaults. To that tend I had selected only one item as shown in the screenshot I had attached, which if I remember right was just the Base System. Thereupon it started 'checking dependencies' and immediately found a list that I could neither ignore or accept any option without triggering even more items that often included the original which I had already answered. It got to where I couldn't remember what I had chosen earlier on some of them. Once I say 'don't install' on a package, it shouldn't provide that later as an option to solve another issue because then the first problem reappears again. ergo, instant loop. I decided not to play that game until the resolver or distros or whatever triggered that loop on the FIRST checkbox was addressed. Even on my 5000+ dual-core machine, it often takes many minutes to 'checking dep...' for each check box so I was going to try it with just BASIC and KDE and see if I could get an ISO, but never got that far. On my initial test after the time when it just quit after several hours, I let the resolver run for about 5 hours (no messages or issues for ME to resolve appeared) before I said that it shouldn't take that long for 1 checkbox to resolve and aborted. To date, I have only gotten to the selection phase, never to the make an ISO phase. If something has changed that has passed my attention, or if there is a specific test you need me to run, just ask, but I don't frustrate myself spontanneously :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
