http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=954188 Bug ID: 954188 Summary: Skylake System crashing in KDE, regular i915 stackdumps in other desktops Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: 2015* Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: kai@stella.at QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0 Build Identifier: i got a new skylake system, which keeps crashing hard in KDE, in the logs i did not find anything related to the crash, so i tested first Xfce and then Mate and both other desktops are runing stable but the i915 Driver produces regular stackdumps in the logfile. I first used OpenSuSE Leap and then switched to Tumbleweed for newer Kernel, but both versions seemed to produce same results Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.installed opensuse (Leap, or Tumbleweed) on a skylake system 2. 3. Actual Results: KDE keeps crashing the system hard very fast (max a few minutes runtime). I'm not able to switch back to console or log in remotely, after such a crash, logs do not contain any info after the crash. when using another Desktop (tested with Xfce and Mate) i keep getting regular stackdumps from i915 driver. Time between 2 dumps is min a few seconds and max 1-2 minutes. One of the Stackdumps from i915 driver is here: [ 561.960217] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [ 561.960229] WARNING: CPU: 4 PID: 1455 at ../drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_pm.c:3668 skl_update_other_pipe_wm+0x1ba/0x1c0 [i915]() [ 561.960230] WARN_ON(!wm_changed) [ 561.960230] Modules linked in: [ 561.960231] bnep fuse ebtable_filter ebtables ip6table_filter ip6_tables iptable_filter ip_tables x_tables af_packet xfs libcrc32c snd_hda_codec_hdmi x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic coretemp snd_hda_intel kvm_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hda_core kvm snd_hwdep crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul snd_pcm aesni_intel snd_timer aes_x86_64 lrw gf128mul glue_helper hci_uart ablk_helper snd mei_me btbcm cryptd pcspkr i2c_i801 soundcore shpchp mei btqca btintel battery bluetooth rfkill fan intel_lpss_acpi wmi intel_lpss pinctrl_sunrisepoint mfd_core pinctrl_intel acpi_als tpm_crb thermal kfifo_buf tpm industrialio processor acpi_pad btrfs xor raid6_pq hid_generic usbhid crc32c_intel serio_raw igb e1000e dca ptp pps_core i915 i2c_algo_bit drm_kms_helper syscopyarea [ 561.960256] xhci_pci sysfillrect sysimgblt fb_sys_fops xhci_hcd usbcore drm usb_common video i2c_hid button fjes dm_mirror dm_region_hash dm_log dm_mod sg [ 561.960262] CPU: 4 PID: 1455 Comm: X Tainted: G W 4.3.0-1-default #1 [ 561.960263] Hardware name: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
