I appreciate your testing.

I simply removed the [Test Conection] and [Other] buttons
where they do not make sense at the moment (i.e. where
currently no testing functionality is implemented).
In future versions I will add testing functionality
for any kind of connection but currently it is too
late for openSUSE 11.1 to implement this.
The reason is - as always - much too much other work to do :-(
For locally connected printers (i.e. USB and parallel)
a connection test does not make very much sense at all
(it can be useful in certain special cases) but in general
when a locally connected printer is autodetected by a
CUPS backend (i.e. when its connection appears), it
should work to send data to it so that the connection test
would be succesful but when it is not autodetected by
a CUPS backend, it is not accessible at all by the lower
level parts of the system (i.e. USB kernel modules or
parallel port modules) and then a connection test also fails.
I.e. for locally connected printers a connection test
is in very most cases equivalent to the autodetection
by a CUPS backend.
A current yast2-printer version is available
via the openSUSE build service at
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jsmeix/
