My goal is to prepare my systems (several computers) to auto-mount external drives, such as pendrives USB, when plugged and auto-unmount when unplugged. I assumed that any external storage device connected via USB will need to be mounted automatically in a subdirectory of /media. Now, when I connect the USB storage device, udev should automatically create a directory under /media with either the device ID, or device label (if I have assigned one), and mount the device. If I disconnect the device, the drive directory (in /media) will be automatically removed. However, udev creates new folder but the new device is useless. Thanks a lot, Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create .rules file as attached 2. connect pendrive usb 3. check /etc/mtab to see if new device is showed 4. check folder ls -lah /media/ Actual Results: terminal shows while a second the new folder: vfltst01:~ # ls -lah /media/ total 12K drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4,0K abr 24 11:36 . drwxr-xr-x 27 root root 4,0K abr 24 10:57 .. drwxrwxrwx 1 admin root 4,0K abr 21 12:51 TEST_USB but after a second (aprox) the pendrive folder changes it's permissions rights to "?" and the drive is unaccesible: vfltst01:~ # ls -lah /media/ ls: cannot access /media/TEST_USB: Transport endpoint is not connected total 8.0K drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4.0K Apr 24 11:36 . drwxr-xr-x 27 root root 4.0K Apr 24 10:57 .. d????????? ? ? ? ? ? TEST_USB Expected Results: udev should automatically create a directory under /media with either the device ID, or device label (if I have assigned one), and mount the device. If I disconnect the device, the drive directory (in /media) will be automatically removed. In /etc/mstab as for new device the line is: /dev/sdb1 /media/TEST_USB fuseblk rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,blksize=4096 0 0 System always use fuseblk to "mount" devices independent of device filesystem, not vfat, not ntfs-3g drivers -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
