I can't reproduce the behavior locally. Could you install heap-shot:
http://www.mono-project.com/HeapShot
Then you'll need to run the following command from a terminal (adjust the path
if necessary):
$ mono --profile=heap-shot /usr/lib/monsoon/Monsoon.exe
When monsoon is running, start a download, then run:
$ heap-shot-gui
In the gui, grab a snapshot of monsoon about a minute after the download starts
and then grab another one every 5-10 minutes. It'll create dump files in the
same folder as where you ran the first command. When you've got all those,
attach them here.
Also, if you're feeling adventurous, you can look at the diff between the first
snapshot and the latest snapshot yourself and see how much memory monsoon as
allocated. I'd expect the memory allocated in the diff to be ~500kB or less.
