I booted SL103-86_64_kISOTD-20080221152521 choosing "installation" at the boot
menu and I added the boot option "libata=force=3.00:pio4,udma/25". (I chose
3.00 rather than 1.00, since it is clear from the line
“ata3.00: ATAPI: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10A, JL01, max UDMA/33”
in the file “/var/log/boot.msg” that ata3.00 refers to the optical drive).
Again the system eventually went into manual mode after a red widget popped up
with the message "No SUSE repository found". At this point I inserted the
installation dvd-disk of openSUSE-10.3 and I attempted an installation from the
DVD. Again the system immediately hung and after about a quarter of an hour
gave up with the message "No repository found". It therfore seems to me that
even when using the above special SL103 kernel, the installation of
openSUSE-10.3 doesn't succeed.
