http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1028136 Bug ID: 1028136 Summary: initrd is really slow to load at system boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: sekhemty@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I'm reporting an unusual behaviour of initrd at system boot. I've already reported this on the forums here (check for more details if needed): https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/523325-how-to-speed-up-initrd-at-... My boot sequence takes a bit too long to complete, and the largest share of this time is taken by initrd: "Startup finished in 4.356s (kernel) + 1min 32.790s (initrd) + 40.040s (userspace) = 2min 17.186s" When a new kernel is installed via the normal system updates, "mkinitrd" is run. This gives me the loading times above. I was suggested to try to manually run "mkinitrd -A", and the loading times are really improved: "Startup finished in 8.597s (kernel) + 6.795s (initrd) + 37.128s (userspace) = 52.522s" It seems that without loading all modules, something goes wrong. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
