So that option wouldn't help, since only one modeline for this mode is available. I'm afraid you need to live with a hack below /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d or report that issue on bugs.freedesktop.org (product: xorg, component: Server/general). Please add me to Cc (sndirsch@suse.de).
