https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=350999 Summary: CD-ROM permissions not set properly on installation Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: benjamin.j.mccann@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I tried clicking on the "Ogg Vorbis" folder in Konqueror and got the following error: Unknown error. If you have a cd in the drive try running cdparanoia -vsQ as yourself (not root). Do you see a track list? If not, make sure you have permission to access the CD device. If you are using SCSI emulation (possible if you have an IDE CD writer) then make sure you check that you have read and write permissions on the generic SCSI device, which is probably /dev/sg0, /dev/sg1, etc.. If it still does not work, try typing audiocd:/?device=/dev/sg0 (or similar) to tell kio_audiocd which device your CD-ROM is. The problem was the device permissions: bmccann@chameleon-htpc:~/Documents> ls -l /dev/sr0 brw-rw----+ 1 root disk 11, 0 2007-12-30 15:38 /dev/sr0 Adding myself to group "disk" solved the issue. Being access music on the CD-ROM drive seems like a basic enough right that your average user should have, so I really think the default configuration should be different. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
