http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=504065 Summary: Problems with driving two harddisks Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: esddss@freenet.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008103100 SUSE/3.0.4-4.7 Firefox/3.0.4 My computer (with LINUX 11.1, shared with Microsofts WINDOWS XP by GRUB) works with 2 harddisks: The first(dev/sda) for the system LINUX, the second(not extern!) for safe data(dev/sdb). If the second harddisk(dev/sdb) damages (like in my case) or will turned off, you are not able to start the LINUX-operatingsystem! In the LINUX-repairsystem you are able to delete the entry of the second harddisk(dev/sdb), but the input fields for the mountpoints are disabled(?)! So fails any trials to start the LINUX-system. You are now constrained for new installing the LINUX-system! By the way, Microsofts WINDOWS operatingsystem ignores this harddisk in this case and starts. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.If the second harddisk(dev/sdb) damages (like in my case) or will turned off, you are not able to start the LINUX-operatingsystem! 2. 3. Actual Results: If the second harddisk(dev/sdb) damages (like in my case) or will turned off, you are not able to start the LINUX-operatingsystem! Expected Results: I must be able to start the LINUX-system without a further (damaged or turned off) harddisk. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
