https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=299579 Summary: Xboard crashes upon launch - can't find crafty Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 1 Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lee_matheson@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Xboard (a chess game front end) has been setup to launch crafty, and crafty has been excluded from 10.3. Hence xboard immediately crashes upon launch with error message: oldcpu@mini:~> xboard xboard: Error writing to first chess program: Broken pipe xboard: Failed to start first chess program crafty xboard on localhost: crafty: No such file or directory xboard: Error writing to first chess program: Broken pipe xboard: Error writing to first chess program: Broken pipe xboard: Error writing to first chess program: Broken pipe Warning: XtRemoveGrab asked to remove a widget not on the list oldcpu@mini:~> Recommend either: a. re-include crafty (my preferred approach), or b. modify xboard build NOT to look for crafty, or c. modify xboard to run either gnuchess or phalanx by default. Note, crafty is likely the strongest chess program for Linux. It would be disappointing not to see it included in 10.3 and I think it worth while including crafty in 10.3: Crafty web site ftp://ftp.cis.uab.edu/pub/hyatt/ Review of Linux Chess engines: http://www.linux.com/articles/60859 My desktop: kde-3.5.7 My handle on IRC / suse forums: oldcpu -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
