Michal,
I don't have no idea what happens when we remove them completely.
Steve says in bnc#149588 comment 8, it will cause the system to hang;
and it also seems to depend on the hardware... so I'd tend to change to:
-install bttv_skip_it echo "module alias skipped (bt878 chip without PCI
Subsystem ID)"
+install bttv_skip_it echo "module alias skipped (bt878 chip without PCI
Subsystem ID)"
only, except e.g. Steve [added to Cc] could verify, that it does not cause
a system hang any more when we remove them completely...
-alias pci:v0000109Ed0000036Esv00000000sd00000000bc04sc00i00 bttv_skip_it
-alias pci:v0000109Ed00000878sv00000000sd00000000bc04sc80i00 bttv_skip_it
-install bttv_skip_it /bin/echo "module alias skipped (bt878 chip without PCI
Subsystem ID)"
Yarny,
do you see the "module alias skipped"... message when you modify it like
above [remove /bin/ in front of the echo], call "depmod -a; mkinitrd" and
reboot [no idea which modules have to be unloaded to test without reboot].
