https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671369 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671369#c0 Summary: kernel oops on plugging smartphone: not recognized as modem Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: estellnb@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.4; Linux) KHTML/4.4.4 (like Gecko) SUSE Some kernel oopses occurred when I plugged in my smartphone last time. This is the first time that I have experienced this behaviour when plugging in my smartphone. As far as I remember the screen turned black for short when this happened. The device did not get listed by lsusb, restarting dbus & hal did of course not help and plugging/unplugging the phone multiple times did not help either. In the kernel messages I have discovered a message like 'not a modem - device can not do calls on its own.' though I have already used it successfully as modem for 'tethering'. In regards of the details see for the attachements.
