This is probably related, but is something new in openSUSE 11.0.
While SCIM is enabled (i.e. its keyboard icon is showing in the tray), hit
Alt-F2 to launch the "Run Application" dialog, then type '/'. SCIM swallows
that keystroke. After that, I can only type two more keys before it completely
stops receiving any more key strokes. Exiting SCIM from its tray icon allows
the dialog to receive key strokes again.
I also have Desktop Effects enabled if that matters.
I've known about this problem of scim eating key strokes for a long time in
various applications at least for the past two years, but this one is new to
me. While all the other symptoms are very hard to reproduce, this one is
pretty easy to replicate, at least in my environment.
