The tray opens but closes again at once because the ata driver resets the drive. dmesg gives such a message: ata2.01: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen ata2.01: cmd a0/00:00:00:00:20/00:00:00:00:00/b0 tag 0 cdb 0x1b data 0 res 40/00:03:00:00:20/00:00:00:00:00/b0 Emask 0x4 (timeout) ata2: soft resetting link ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33 ata2.01: configured for UDMA/33 ata2: EH complete This happens every time I push the eject key on the drive. The only way out is to snatch the CD out in the short moment the tray is open, which is really annoying! Note that the problem only occurs if you really copied data from the CD. If you just put it in and look around a bit in the directory, the CD will come out OK. I have and AMD Athlon 64, mainboard Asus K8N with Nvidia Nforce 3 250 Chipset.
