--- Comment #2 from Terje J. Hanssen 2010-11-16 13:54:54 UTC ---
I've upgraded to Factory package level and came a step further. vm-install did
start, but ran into issues on both attempts as follows:
1. First, tried to create a vm from an existing installed openSUSE 11.3 on hard
disk partition phy:/dev/sda10
Error: No kernel was found
2. Next, tried to install openSUSE 11.3 from DVD installation media source
phy:/dev/sr0 onto the hard disk partition phy:/dev/sda10
openSUSE installation program started the DVD disk.
Minor issue:
during selecting language or keyboard layout, the cursor pointer jumps out and
doesn't work the first time, but works the second time
Major issue:
System Probing stops with an error message:
Unable to create repository from URL 'hd:/?device/xvda'
Details: Empty distination in URI hd:///?device=/dev/xvda
Without knowing what to manually type in, I had to exit the installation
Error: No kernel was found
