(This bug has been present since the first 13.1beta) Reported on: 13.1RC2
After clean install several applications fail to start in KDE. For example Dolphin, firefox etc. Some of them will start once there dbus request has a timeout. This problem is making it impossible to use KDE and you cannot even logout since the dbus service request for logout just hangs.
This can easily be verified by (for example) trying to run
which will just hang.
However, starting these applications as root (and hence a new dbus session) launches them as normal.
Viewing the dbus with qdbusviewer the same issue can be seen. Some services respond as expected but others (for example org.kde.kded) just hangs until timeout.
Not sure what other information I can provide to help resolve this since I'm not that familiar with dbus or debugging it.
Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make a clean install with KDE 2. Login, try to make a dbus request "qdbus org.freedesktop.PowerManagement". This hangs Actual Results: Executing "qdbus org.freedesktop.PowerManagement" hangs until timeout
Expected Results: dbus reponds as expected.
This problem is not present in a SuSE 12.3 + KDE 4.11.2 desktop so it's not an intrinsic problem with KDE 4.11.2 desktop but some deeper interaction with 13.1-[beta/rc1/rc2]
The test-server (a fairly standard Intel x64 i3) shas also been running SuSE 12.3 + KDE 4.11.2 since it was released without any issues
