Nope, neither problem helped by a restart.
Next, I started by using the date stamp on /etc/issue as my install date, and
deleted all of the patch descriptor files in /patches before that date. It
worked, but still left about 12 items with Broken Dep popup. Carefully I went
through what was listed and it appears that everything from 2007/11/30 and
older needed deleted, so I did that. Note that for some reason, java-1_5_0-sun
, while older than that date, did NOT cause an warning icon.
Although I am getting the "fetchmsttfonts" offer again, that's no bother.
So, YaST2 online update appears to be functioning and so is the KDE updater
icon.
Question: beyond fixing this in the installer, shouldn't there be an CLI option
to zypper to "clean up" or rebuild its patch database?
