This is not the designed behavior (if it were then it's a design bug). The
feature is intended, yes. The possibility to configure more than one device at
a time and the architecture underneath to allow it is as designed. But the bug
comes from the fact that the gnome nm-applet was not redesigned to accommodate
the new feature correctly. The applet doesn't allow the user to actually use
the new feature at all.
It was created to allow things like sharing a connection. At this point it's
largely an architecture feature that has been incorrectly exposed to the user.
DO NOT close this bug until there is UI support to control the feature or the
default behavior is changed.
