After fresh install of any recent Xubuntu/Mint/Mandriva: sound works out-of-the-box After a fresh install of openSuSE 10.3, 11.0 or 11.1 RC1: no sound In openSuSE in KMix a switch labeled "Audigy Analog Digital Output Jack" is switched off by default. Switching it to "On" enables the sound. To make matters worse: Starting with openSuSE 11.1 this switch is hidden by default(!). This seems to me to be a wrong default setting.
