https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226661 Summary: hwinfo can interferes with the funsoft USB serial device Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: ihno@novell.com ReportedBy: david@funsoft.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: gregkh@novell.com If the command "hwinfo --modem" is executed it can interfere with a running funsoft serial device. The hwinfo command is placing the funsoft serial device in raw mode while it tries to probe for modems. It keeps the funsoft device in raw mode until it has finished it's probing of modems. If a real modem is attached to a machine it can take several seconds before hwinfo restores the funsoft device to canonical mode. Enough time can pass to disrupt the funsoft serial device. I have already submitted a kernel patch for the funsoft module to prevent hwinfo from switching it to raw mode. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
