Boot is successful after disabling splash: /etc/default/grub: #GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash=silent" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="" The problem seems to be related to splash/plymouth/nouveau/kernel version. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable splash in grub settings 2. 'grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg' 3. reboot Actual Results: Boot-up fails, TTY8 is frozen. On most cases text console still works.
