Does the problem still happen with the updated kernel? If yes, could you check whether the newer kernel (3.13.x or 3.14-rc) works better? You can take the kernel from OBS Kernel:stable or Kernel:HEAD.
Yes, still occurs. Tried with the following kernels: 3.11.10-7-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 3 09:41:24 UTC 2014 (750023e) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux 3.14.0-rc6-6.ge5b4397-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Mar 15 12:23:40 UTC 2014 (e5b4397) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks for the updates. Yeah, the timing seems critical in this case. Are you using mkinitrd, not dracut? If so, what happens if you set NO_KMS_IN_INITRD=yes in /etc/sysconfig/kernel, run mkinitrd once, and reboot?
I did not try this, sorry! After a run of 'zypper upgrade' I got into a situation that I did a full reinstall of openSUSE 13.1 (related to LVM2 upgrade, for which I later found out that I could have avoided reinstall..) As far as the splash freeze: I did not face the issue after clean reinstall! I think this might have something to do with the fact that there have been issues in doing upgrade install from older openSUSE versions. I still get Nouveau "MMI0 read of 0x00000008 FAULT at..." error messages in TTY1, though. But the splash is shown correctly. Assigning back to Takashi to figure out what to do with this bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
