https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238552 ------- Comment #7 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2007-02-06 18:37 MST ------- Static linking of libraries that have data files or modules doesn't work very well. Example: Assume that there were static libraries of gtk2 and you would use them. libgtk.a on openSUSE 10.2 has the path to its config files hardcoded as /etc/opt/gnome/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders. By static linking, this will end up hardcoded into your executable, making it *more* dependent on the system libraries as a dynamic binary because it won't work on openSUSE 10.3. A dynamic binary doesn't have that problem because it searches for libgtk.so in the library search path and takes the correct path to gdk-pixbuf.loaders from there. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
