The Korean keyboard layout is “almost” identical to the US keyboard
layout. The only difference to the US keyboard layouts are two
additional keys to the left and the right of the space bar.
See /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/kr:
// $XKeyboardConfig: xkeyboard-config/symbols/kr,v 1.4 2006/10/11 19:32:35
svu Exp $
//
default alphanumeric_keys
xkb_symbols "kr106" {
name[Group1]= "Korea, Republic of";
include "us"
include "kr(koreankeys)"
};
alphanumeric_keys
xkb_symbols "kr104" {
name[Group1]= "Korea, Republic of - 101/104 key Compatible";
include "us"
include "kr(koreankeys)"
include "kr(koreankeys_raltctl)"
};
partial hidden function_keys
xkb_symbols "koreankeys" {
key <K72> { [ Hangul ] };
key <K71> { [ Hangul_Hanja ] };
};
partial hidden function_keys
xkb_symbols "koreankeys_raltctl" {
key <RALT> { [ Hangul ] };
key <RCTL> { [ Hangul_Hanja ] };
};
I.e. if a keyboard is used which doesn’t have these 2 extra keys,
they are mapped to the right Alt and the right Control key instead.
