Yes, as long as the symbol is provided by some package, it should work. Try
'wp' to check (see example bellow).
The suggestion from gdb just means that if you have a repo with debuginfo
packages corresponding to your main repos, there is a good chance that the
suggested command will install that package.
So maybe you need to add a debuginfo repo, or there are no debuginfo pacakges
for that package. Please check.
E.g.:
$ zypper wp "debuginfo(build-id)=5fd97bc09befebd8e3e8c02ee04bcfda3dcbedba"

│ CASA-cli-debuginfo │ package │ 1.7.1592-5.15 │ i586 │ di
$ zypper in "debuginfo(build-id)=5fd97bc09befebd8e3e8c02ee04bcfda3dcbedba"

The following NEW package is going to be installed:
CASA-cli-debuginfo
1 new package to install.
Overall download size: 19.0 KiB. After the operation, additional 20.0 KiB will
be used.
Continue? [y/n/?] (y): n
(no -C there in my example - if the symbol is not found among package names, it
automatically tries to search in capabilities (-C/--capability))
