I'm a little confused by the lack of verboseness of this bug, but I guess I
should comment.
A couple of points..
First of all I haven't decided what to do with o-x-s for 11.0 yet. It all
depends on different things.
- Will xgl and compiz still be in default patterns on all media
- Will there be an easy clean way to launch compiz (and compiz fusion) on
KDE(4) startup that is very, very easy to script as on 10.3/kde3 with xgl
(kde-start-compiz)
- Will there be some other tool (yast, sax2, kde, etc.) that does a better job.
- Will aiglx/nvidia-glx be enabled out of the box.
- Will kwin_effects kick so much ass that noone in their right mind will ever
consider using Compiz (Fusion). My motivation for doing o-x-s is helping
openSUSE/KDE - not really pushing Compiz.
I'll decide on the future of o-x-s when I test alpha3 shortly. I might decide
to terminate the project or I might turn o-x-s into a tool for just enabling
xgl/nvidia-glx/aiglx - and leaving the choosing and launching of WM to the user
(and systemsettings). Or I might try to extend it to support both kwin and
compiz and xgl/nvidia-glx and aiglx if this'll be easy to do.
Second point. o-x-s is very crude and primitive, I'm not sure it's something we
should want in the distro. Any developer could create something much better in
a very short time. I think 1-click-install from the BS is probably easy enough.
