--- Comment #11 from Dave Plater 2009-12-06 07:24:21 UTC ---
The attached file (saved with studio) works with rosegarden-qt4-10.02-113.1 and
measures are being taken to ensure backward compatibility with
rosegarden4-1.7.3 files. rosegarden-10.01 svn 11375 is now building. To follow

Oh, and I noticed one of your users expressing concern about file
compatibility between 1.7.3 and 10.02.
We have added a new trill with line indication, and a new type of event
that is used to provide the segno, coda and breath mark. If a file is
saved with any of these new elements, an older version of Rosegarden will
ignore them, and if the file is saved, they will be stripped out
permanently. I can't think of anything else, but if I'm missing something,
it's probably really minor.
The project packager has been completely rewritten from scratch. It
should be able to unpack any existing .rgp files users have around, but the
old packager will NOT be able to handle new files.
We have always maintained the ability to read old files of any vintage,
and do not expect this to change. Of course using new features in any new
version of Rosegarden carries the possibility that some information may be
lost permanently when moving backwards to an older version. When this
condition is detected, you get a warning. I've just made the warning
stronger, and I finally remembered to update our file format version
number. We probably should have done that at least a dozen times more
often than we have. Generally people haven't experienced many problems
with this though, as changes to the file format from version to version
tend to be relatively minor.
