Just tried with the latest 11.2 updates, and a matching KDE4 Factory:
/# zypper lr -u
# | Alias | Name | Enabled | Refresh | URI
--+-----------------+-----------------------+---------+---------+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 | KDE4-Factory | KDE4-Factory | Yes | Yes |
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU...
2 | openSUSE 11.2-0 | openSUSE 11.2-0 | Yes | Yes |
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/oss/
3 | repo-debug | openSUSE-11.2-Debug | No | Yes |
http://download.opensuse.org/debug/distribution/11.2/repo/oss/
4 | repo-non-oss | openSUSE-11.2-Non-Oss | Yes | Yes |
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/non-oss/
5 | repo-source | openSUSE-11.2-Source | No | Yes |
http://download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/11.2/repo/oss/
6 | repo-update | openSUSE-11.2-Update | Yes | Yes |

(zypper dup; zypper up)
Result: "akonadictl start"
starts a crashing akonadiserver for me like above,
but a newly created user has everything working quite OK.
I didn't even bother to copy the mysql config for the new user.
